INTERVIEW

Last week  was really interesting because students had one of the biggest assessment challenges : being in an English Interview. Acoording to the cronograme proposed for the students, I have always planned different ways of assessment both in written and in oral way. Dialogues, role pays and interviews are  the  activities proposed to assess students´ target language improvement. Some of them felt quite nervous because they believed they do not have the skill to produce a coherent speech.But, I use some strategies to encourage to talk or produce meaningful expresions. The activity was held in all the levels, but it has different purposes, taking into account the content and the goals of every couse. Level I- We talked about personal information and vocabulary learned. Because of their english level, I used some clues and questions previously worked in class. 2019 A WHOLE NEW YEAR TO LEARN...

This is the first  post of this year, this week has been a time for begin with new courses and  new students. Some of them have been in class with me some years ago...It is interesting to check their progress in English language aquisition. Some of them  are afraid of beginning a new course because they think they are not available to reach the goals proposed. That´s why I decided to present meta cognitive tips in class just to make their process  a little bit more suitable. I deeply believe a teacher has to be aware not only  about their students needs or requirements but to give them tools to improve the quality of learning. Right now I have level I, two courses Level II and Level V. Level V is a challenge for me because it is the first time I teach it.

SHORTCUTS

Sometimes it is difficult to pace activities with the students. They are supposed to do activities but they are not very into them, so I have to make an extra work for setting instructions. Otherwise, I have to give them more time to develop the communicative task. That happened twice this week so I decided to learn about this experience in order to improve my work and do it more efectively ...

BEGGINING

I decided to begin this blog  just to record my experiences as a language teacher at UCC .Univesidad Cooperativa de Colombia is an upper studies center located in Medellín city. I have been working there for about 7 years now.  The purpose of this blog is to sistematize the experiences I have every day in my rol as a language teacher. It is not an easy job but I like challenges. I also pretend to participate in the 2019 Meaningful experiences contest showing the improvements  that students have had due to the exercises, activities  and the development of communicatve tasks.
